CEBU CITY — More than just bringing news, more than just giving updates, the Sun.Star website adopted new tools when it covered the country’s second automated elections the multimedia way.
Months before the holding of the midterm polls this year, www.sunstar.com.ph set up a microsite at specials.sunstar.com.ph/philippinepolls to aid and keep the voters informed. It features not just stories in text, but also photos, videos, infographics, and even an online game.
Yes, Sun.Star was the first community newspaper company in the Philippines to have come up with an online game to go into news. “Whack the vote-buyer,” created by Sun.Star Network Exchange’s (Sunnex) very own web technology staff and interns, aims to help the Commission on Elections (Comelec) fight vote-buying, and to empower Filipino voters.
